Bite Studio create an interactive window installation for GAP and 20th Century FOX to promote the 3D film RIO
Bite Studio have recently completed an interactive window installation for the internationally renowned retail chain GAP. The interactive features a host of cutting edge technologies and custom built software. A custom-written application using a motion capture sensor measures the activity in a defined zone on the sidewalk, to activate game states that are displayed on the LCD video wall on the other side of the shop window.
There are 2 dance zones in front of the LCD screens where stickers on the pavement encourage children to 'Stand here and shake your samba stuff!'. When children stand in these zones they are picked up by the motion capture. When a child has been detected a message encourages the child to start dancing. Dance meters then appear at the top of the screen and the amount of dancing activates more characters from the RIO film to start dancing across the screen with them. Two children can now compete in a 'dance-off' to reach the maximum dance meter state and activate the ' Congratulations your a samba superstar' screen where streamers and confetti rain on the the characters.
The interactive also features innovative audio technology that turns the whole window into a speaker playing samba music from the film as children dance within the zones. The interactive is designed specifically for children and the LCD video wall is positioned and calibrated to suit.
For adults Bite has also installed a 3m x 2m LED video wall playing custom RIO film footage. The LED wall is installed in the adjoining window and uses cutting edge LED panels that are high resolution and daylight readable even direct in sunlight.
The interactive has been drawing huge crowds outside GAP's flagship Oxford Street store in London as children compete against each other to become a 'samba superstar'. Surprisingly, just as many adults have been caught 'shaking their tail feathers'! The project was simultaneously launched in GAP's London and Paris flagship stores and will run for 1 month.
The GAP project has allowed Bite Studio to showcase some of its innovation and experience in installation based projects working alongside two world renowned brands.

Bite Studio were approached to come up with a new digital marketing concept to promote the Monty Python musical Spamalot as it travels around theatres across the UK.
We came up with the idea of a '20 Day Quest for the Holy Grail'. Visitors to the site can join Sir Arthur and the brave knights as they make their way around an illustrated & interactive grail map with 20 locations to visit on their route to the grail. The site is designed so that visitors can join from the start or at any point during the quest. Visitors have the chance to win the prizes available for that day and are also encouraged to come back again and invite their friends to win more prizes every day for the duration of the quest.
Visitors make their way past the forest of the black night, Camelot, shrubbery village, the knights who say ni, the killer rabbit and the george of eternal peril.
The concept is designed to encourage repeat site visits and be spread virally to friends through social media. Since its launch there has been great user feedback and a large increase in ticket sales, and as such the micro-site is being rolled out nationally for other theatres across the UK.

Bite Studio approached King's College Hospital Charity with the idea to create the UK’s first virtual online donation garden dedicated to raising funds for the benefit of those requiring life changing health care.
The charity who had previously only been able to receive donations by cheque, teamed up with the leading digital agency to produce the UK’s first virtual online donor garden as a way of allowing users to donate money in a fun, interactive and engaging way by planting a seed for someone special.
The ‘donor garden’ concept has been produced not only as an innovative and engaging fundraising concept to help raise money but to encourage users to commit to an ongoing direct debit donation.
The garden works by a simple process of selecting a seed for a flower, plant, shrub or small tree based on the users donation where it will grow over a period of days, weeks and months until it fully blooms. The social media aspect of the micro-site encourages users to invite friends and family to the site so that others will donate money to create a fully bloomed online garden.
On the homepage visitors are greeted with a large view of the ‘virtual garden’ with growing plants, animated wildlife and a view of Kings College Hospital in the background.
From here the user is taken to a ‘plant a seed’ page where they can choose from seven seed packets. Users can then name the plant for someone special.
At this point the chosen seed will be planted randomly in the garden and displayed in stage one of growth. Each time the user checks back on the website the plant will be at different stages of growth based on the scale of the plant. Users will be encouraged to forward the website link to their friends so others may get involved in donating and create an exciting community of online donators.
An interactive touchscreen in the hospital which will display a live feed from the garden where the names of people the plants are donated to are displayed. This digital approach replaces the old fashioned donor boards found in hospitals.
The new and exciting innovative website will mean a massive up-sell in ongoing direct debits for the charity, which will only lead to bigger donations, and more health care, equipment and facilities for the hospital. The website is looking to develop further in the future with an expansion of the garden, extra interactivity and a wider selection of plants to choose from.

Bite deliver interactive kiosk's for The Intellectual Property Office
Bite Studio were asked to design a new range of interactive touch-screen kiosks to educate users about different forms of intellectual property, how intellectual property is relevant to the user and the history of the Intellectual Property Office as a company.
It was Bite Studio’s aim to produce an user friendly interactive kiosk to enable users to understand what intellectual property is and the type of service The Intellectual Property Office provides. The highly accessible interface is a visually stylistic portal detailing the value of a creative idea or invention and the steps a user would need to take to ensure such intellectual property is protected as an asset or investment.
The Kiosk sitemap consists of an interactive homepage which links the user to different areas of the website including an explanation of what intellectual property is, the types of intellectual property, the history of the Intellectual Property Office and the history of design, copyright, patents and trademarks. The kiosk also details why we use intellectual property and how and when to use it. Visual and written examples of intellectual property can also be accessed through the interface along with news and information about IPO’s exciting partnership with Aardman, the producers of the Wallace and Gromit series.
The new and exciting kiosks are set up with remote access allowing Bite Studio to upgrade the software without the need to do a site visit, again highlighting the exciting technological capabilities the agency promises when delivering digital media solutions.
The project has proven invaluable to IPO’s public exposure as well as providing Bite Studio with yet another attractive addition to its already flourishing digital media portfolio.
